Kukai was born in 774 in "Sanuki-no-Kuni" Kagawa Prefecture , Shikoku Island, Japan.
His father was a powerful family of the land. His uncle was a scholar. His childhood name was MAO.
He was deeply religious since childhood. He was playing a statue made of clay. He is also very clever, and excellent. People are calling him "precious".
He worked hard. And he graduated with excellent grades in school.
And when he was 15 years old , He went to the city to study at university.
He was going to become a government official and succeed.
This time, the emperor had tried to move the capital.
There have also been severe flooding this time.
By the time people were in pain and disaster for the capital work.
At that time, MAO met one monk, taught Buddhism.
MAO has quit college and became a monk. And he began rigorous training.
MAO was training "Kokuzogumonjiho".
This is the Ascetic practice that chanted mantra million times.
That way, his memory will be better. He will be able to remember all the sutras.
The word mantra means and the truth preached by the Buddha.
At the caves of Cape Muroto "MIKURODO" in Kochi, Mao has completed the training. At that time, Venus dived into his mouth, and He was awakened to the truth.
From then on, he changed the name "Mao" to "Kukai".
